Held on National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, this community gathering brings together Indigenous peoples, newcomers, and non-Indigenous community members in a welcoming environment focused on healing, learning, movement, and belonging.
Inspired by the spirit of traditional buffalo hunts — where every person had a role and communities worked together — the day celebrates the power of sport, culture, and shared experiences to build stronger and healthier communities.
The primary goal of this event is to create a welcoming and inclusive space where members of Treaty 7 can come together. Through healing-focused runs, traditional games, Elder teachings, and cultural activities, the event celebrates Indigenous cultures, resilience, and traditions while promoting physical activity, wellness, and community connection.
We are recruiting volunteers for multiple positions including:
- 28km water station volunteers
- 4km & 7km - on course navigators
- 2km spotters & scorers
- Crowd/parking/traffic control
- Lacrosse time/scorekeepers & linesmen
- Tipi set-up opportunity
